Certified Nursing Assistant

 

 

 This course fulfills the 75-hour Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) requirements for training of long-term care nursing assistants in preparation for certification through competency evaluation. Emphasis is placed on the development of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required of the long-term care nursing assistant. Upon completion of this course, the student should demonstrate satisfactory performance on written examinations and clinical skills. (Must be 18 years of age before going to clinical)

This course provides the knowledge and skills required of people seeking employment as Nursing Assistants in long-term and acute care facilities. The course combines the nursing assistant theory across the life span, client care skills in a practice lab setting, and medical terminology.

Requirements: You must have prior departmental approval to register for this course. Applicants must provide the following when registering:

• The results of a Tuberculosis skin test

• Proof of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) immunizations
